Art for a cause - Predator Free Wellington | Lesh Creates
Lesh Creates formed a collaboration with Predator Free Wellington, which is on a mission to bring back birdsong to New Zealand's capital city, Wellington, by eradicating every last rat, mustelid, and possum! The first stage of the project, based on the Miramar Peninsula, is now complete. Thanks to the efforts of thousands of backyard trappers (including Lesh Creates) and formal predator control, locals are seeing the return of the native flora and fauna depicted in the 'Nature Revived' artwork. Thank you in advance for supporting our mahi and helping increase the number of species able to call the peninsula home.
Phase 2 is now underway, and Predator Free Wellington is currently working in the suburbs of Hataitai, Evans Bay, Roseneath, Oriental Bay, and Mt Victoria. This second phase spans 1300 hectares and involves 14 suburbs, from Kilbirnie around to Ōwhiro Bay and up through the CBD. Moving from Miramar into Phase 2 increases the complexity and diversity – the area is home to approximately 60,000 people living at greater urban density, and we will be working with Wellington Zoo, Government House, Massey University, and Wellington Regional Hospital.
Thank you in advance for your support!
Lesh will generously donate the following to Predator Free Wellington:
