"Isolate—sounds harsh, but my brain can run 100 miles like an internet browser with 10 tabs open," she explains. "If I don’t slow down, I crash." So she takes a step back, pulls out a notebook or pad, and starts with a brain dump of practical goals and crazy ideas. Then, she does something physical, like getting out in nature or walking her dog. Finally, she grabs a blank paper, card, or canvas, along with some colours that make her happy, and lets the creativity grow with each layer. It's a process that allows her to reconnect with her inner muse and find inspiration in the world around her.

"Art is a necessity for me," she explains. "So, I push myself to make time for it, as I always feel better once I've completed something new."

"I have many favourites," Dani laughs. But among her many creations, Dani holds a special fondness for her latest piece, a chorus box in Marahau. "It is very 'me,' featuring beach scenes, sea creatures, shells, and a wee surprise at the back with the local landscape."

From tackling murals to exploring new techniques, Dani isn't afraid to push the boundaries of her art. "I can’t see myself stopping anytime soon," she says.
